Ithacasori: Kpop Jazz Jam
Inspired by the energy and creativity of the video game music (VGM) scene, where communities of musicians reinterpret game soundtracks with jazz, fusion, and funk arrangements. The Ithacasori Kpop Jazz Jam takes this spirit and brings it into the world of Korean pop music. VGM jam sessions are known for their passionate fanbase, improvisatory flair, and collaborative nature, and the Ithacasori Kpop Jazz Jam carries that same energy into a genre that has taken the world by storm.
The night kicks off with a set by the Ithacasori Jam Band, performing jazz-infused arrangements of iconic K-pop tracks. These charts were specially crafted by Harry Pogorzelski-Ponichtera and Corey Stark, blending rhythmic grooves, colorful harmonies, and plenty of space for improvisation.
Following the opening performance, we open the floor for an interactive jam session. Thanks to arranger Greg Smith, we’ll have a library of over 20 Real Book-style charts based on K-pop hits, ranging from smooth ballads to dancefloor bangers, ready for instrumentalists and vocalists of all levels to join in. Whether you’re a seasoned jazz soloist or a die-hard K-pop fan looking to vibe with a band, the Ithacasori Kpop Jazz Jam is a space to collaborate, explore, and celebrate.
